Meet The Doulas

amy@babymoondoulas.org

I am a DONA International certified doula. I have given birth naturally five times. One of those births was as a gestational carrier. I honestly love to give birth. I would go through it 1,000 more times, I just don’t think there’s enough space our home. I’d love to help other women find the joy that is hidden in natural childbirth. As I continue my doula work, I am simultaneously enrolled in college (my first time at age 33), with hopes of becoming a midwife. I have always viewed birth not as a medical event, but as a natural function of the body. Birth is an empowering experience for women, I would love to help you achieve this goal in a way that is right for you. Feel free to contact me via email, facebook, or on my blog.

I am a mother of 4 and happily married to my husband of 16 years. We live in a little river community in Charles Town, WV. My passion for all things "birth" began when I was in my last months of pregnancy w/my oldest, who is now 15. After that it became one of my major purposes in life. I am there for mom and family from pregnancy on and beyond if needed. I have certifications in Infant Massage Instruction, Labor Assisting( fancy way of saying Doula )and am currently working towards my certification in Childbirth Education. Please feel free to contact me for any questions.

Ashton Nesmith lives in Spring Mills, WV with her family. She has been practicing as a Doula since 2006 and is a Certified Doula through Childbirth International (CBI) and is a DONA member. Even after completing college with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education she knew she was meant to be a Doula and could easily use her teaching skills to prepare families for childbirth. She couldn't be happier with her decision to become a Doula!

Why I became a Doula

"As an Elementary Education major in college I was struck with a near fatal pregnancy, and birth. After beating the odds and delivering a four pound little girl two months early, I knew that no woman should ever have to go through what I went through. Looking back I wish I would have had someone there to coach me, to explain things more, to just be there with knowledge and experience to get me through what should have been the most amazing part of a woman's life. Afterwards I felt like I had to get the word out and help make a difference to pregnant women, so I turned to Childbirth International and received my Doula certification. Today my daughter, Baeh, is a healthy five year old. I have every hope to help out women pre-nately, during labor/birth, and post-partum to achieve the best pregnancy and birth experience possible."

Emily O’Neal resides in Charles Town with her husband and two sons. She was inspired by the back to back births of her children and decided to pursue her certification to become a certified birth doula. Having two babies thirteen months apart also inspired Emily to begin training as a post partum doula. She feels that every woman deserves a nurturing environment during birth and beyond. She is currently training through Birth Arts International and is offering low cost assistance as part of her certification.

grace@babymoondoulas.org

Grace Mueller lives in Bunker Hill, WV with her husband Brandon and four children. She is the Co-Director of Babymoon Doulas. She is trained as a birth and postpartum doula. (DONA) She believes that there is nothing as important as family. Grace loves being part of the sweet spirit that is added to a home when a new baby arrives

Why I became a Doula

"When I had my first two children I had a wonderful mother, who was a born doula. She was there for me every step of the way. Talking and holding me through both of my births. She would work an eight hour shift then come help me with my breast feeding and sleeping. When She passed away , a question crossed my mind. What happens to the expecting mother who doesn't have her own mother's help? I decided I want to be the one that the mother can go to for help answering questions and support." -Grace

sarah@babymoondoulas.org

I’m a DONA trained birth doula and breastfeeding specialist. I live in Martinsburg with my husband and our little girl.

My path into the birth world started with my own experience. I’ve always been a little granola, so when found out I was pregnant (surprise!), I knew, for me, natural was the way to go. Unfortunately, my daughter’s birth was not picture perfect, but what I did have was unconditional nurturing and support from some amazing women who acted as my doulas, making my experience a positive and transformative one.

I began to read and learn all I could about birth and breastfeeding. It became a bit of an obsession. So much so, that I decided I’d better make a career out of it. I believe that birth isn’t nearly as risky as we make it, and that we women are built perfectly to birth our babies. That said, I also believe in the woman’s right to make her own educated decisions.

I attend hospital, birth center, and home births. Feel free to contact me via phone or email.
